    _ “Reforming is not challenging; it is acknowledging; it is wanting something to last”

    _ “Spain experienced three decades of political, economic and social transformation. The main one was building together a full democratic system”

    _ “Nearly ten years ago our history was interrupted because Spain’s modernisation process was stopped”

    _ “The consequences have been devastating. So much so, that Spain found itself deep in the most serious crisis of its democratic history”

    _ “In November 2011, the Spanish people faced their responsibility. They did so supporting unity, reform, and Spain’s modernisation”

    _ “There’s a renovated political and social majority, for which we have all worked hard, which shares the will of taking, once again, the road to success”

    _ “Its mandate is unequivocal. And therefore the cost of not reforming would be unbearable”

    _ “You get it right when you trust the Spanish people; when you call them to a broad and deep national project”

 The former Prime Minister of Spain and president of FAESJosé María Aznar, asked to “reform the Transition system in order to update it”. He also stated that “I’m not against anyone; I’m with the Spanish people. Not more than anyone, but at least as much as the most supportive”.

Aznar delivered these statements at the Congress, during the launch and presentation of the new series of books Biografías Políticas, published by FAES with the aim of spreading the work and thoughts of the most relevant personalities of the Spanish liberal-conservative tradition. The first three volumes of the series are dedicated to Cánovas del CastilloMaura and Silvela.
