On Friday 6 and Saturday 7, in Tarazona (Zaragoza) FAES Foundation and the PP of Aragón Held the Fifth Edition of their Summer School in Tarazona

    _ Javier Zarzalejos, Secretary-General of FAES Foundation, ran and opened the sessions, which were closed by Luisa Fernanda Rudi, President of the Regional Government of Aragón

    _ Some of the subjects analysed were the recovery of the Spanish economy, the crossroads currently faced by Europe, and the challenges of democracy, among others

    _ Manuel Pizarro, Román Escolano, Baudilio Tomé and Benigno Pendás were some of the speakers who participated in the sessions

On Friday 6 and Saturday 7 September, FAES Foundation and the PP of Aragón held the fifth edition of their Summer School in Tarazona (Zaragoza). Javier Zarzalejosopened the sessions on Friday at 11:15 together with Octavio López, Secretary-General of the PP of Aragón, and Luis María Beamonte, Mayor of Tarazona and President of the Provincial Council of Zaragoza. Luisa Fernanda Rudi, President of the Regional Government of Aragón, closed the sessions on Saturday at 14:00.

The FAES-PP Summer School, ran by Javier Zarzalejos, welcomed more than 150 organic and public positions of the field of politics. It was held in the Diocesan Seminary of Tarazona (Obispo Hurtado, 8), and aimed to be a gathering to discuss the main subjects that are currently being debated both in Spain and in the world. The subjects analysed in this edition were, among others, the recovery of the Spanish economy, the crossroads currently faced by Europe and the challenges of democracy. 

Manuel Pizarro, President of IberCaja Foundation, Román Escolano, President of the Official Credit Institute, Baudilio Tomé, member of the European Court of Auditors, John Müller and Tom Burns Marañón, journalists, and Benigno Pendás, State Councillor and Director of the Centre for Political and Constitutional Studies, participated in this fifth edition among other speakers.

THE SESSIONS

On Friday 6, Román Escolano, President of the Official Credit Institute, delivered the address “The Spanish Economy and its Recovery” after the opening. This address was introduced by Ana Alós, Mayor of Huesca.

The session “Crossroads of Europe” was held at 16:00. Baudillo Tomé, member of the European Court of Auditors, and Tom Burns Marañón, journalist and essay-writer, participated in it. Fernando Ledesma, Deputy Secretary for Organisation of the PP of Aragón chaired the session.  

Elisa Chuliá, tenured professor of the Faculty of Political Science and Sociology of the Spanish Distance Education University (UNED) delivered the address “Ensuring the Welfare State” at 18:30. The address was introduced by Ricardo Canals, senator and Deputy Secretary for Electoral Action of the PP of Aragón.

On Saturday 7 at 10:00, the second day of the Summer School started off. Benigno Pendás, State Councillor and Director of the Centre for Political and Constitutional Studies, and Narciso Michavila, President of GAD3, a sociologic research and communications consultancy, led the discussion “The Challenges of Democracy. Populism and Public Opinion.” Roberto Bermúdez de Castro, Councillor of the Presidency and Justice of the Regional Government of Aragón, chaired the session.

The last session before the closing,Deepening Reforms, took place at 12:00. Manuel Pizarro, President of IberCaja Foundation and former President of Endesa, and John Müller,journalist, participated in it. Gustavo Alcalde, National Government representative of Aragón, was in charge of chairing the discussion.
