Orsini: ‘We Need Someone to Start a Body-To-Body Combat against the ISIS’

The director of the Centre for the Study of Terrorism at the University of Rome, Alessandro Orsini, has said today that ‘someone needs to start a body-to-body combat against the militants of Isis’, and that ‘so far, the West has fought using only the little finger’. Orsini participated in a discussion at the FAES Campus on strategies before the Islamic State, in which the director of the Master on Terrorism at Rey Juan Carlos University, Rogelio Alonso, said that ‘we must have an effect on political leadership, social mobilization and awareness’ and ‘learn to be militant societies’.

Pasquino: ‘Populists recognize no limit on the exercise of their power’

Professor Emeritus of Political Science at the University of Bologna, Gianfranco Pasquino, has taken part today in the Constitutional Course of the 2015 FAES Campus, where he stated that ‘Populists do not have, and do not recognise, any limit to the exercise of their power.’ In this regard, he noted that ‘populists do not recognize the separation of institutions and of powers’ because ‘there is one single source of power: the people.’

El profesor de la Escuela de Estudios Superiores en Ciencias Sociales de París, Jordi Canal, ha afirmado hoy que “hay que mantenerse firmes en la defensa de la democracia representativa, la legalidad y los derechos de los individuos” frente al envite del nacionalismo catalán. “En el terreno catalán nos hemos olvidado de hacer política”, ha asegurado durante su conferencia en Campus FAES. María San Gil, patrona de la Fundación Villacisneros, ha denunciado por su parte que el nacionalismo vasco y navarro "quiere cambiar la historia, reescribirla en el sentido que les interesa, borrar de un plumazo 50 años de terror”.
