Italy, on the way to new general elections

03/01/2018. Pablo Martín de Santa Olalla. The Italian President has just put an end to the XVIII legislative term and the country finds itself now before a new political dilemma in which everything is possible. Two months before the elections, the situation seems in favor of the center right coalition, not officially presented as such yet, although the Movement Cinque Stelle holds around the 30% of support. Nevertheless, the favorite option in Europe would be the to reissue the pact between Partido Democratico and Forza Italia.

Elections in Catalonia

In this election neither the Constitution, nor the validity of the rule of law, nor the rights of all Catalans were submitted to a vote. The main responsibility of the Government and all the institutions, as well as of the parties placed in the Constitution, continues to be to guarantee those rights and the rule of law. Only in the destructive calculation made by secessionism it can be consider that the results ratify the nonsense of the separatist process or erase the responsibilities of its authors. This is the first and more important message that have to receive those who did not win the elections and who do not represent the majority vote of the Catalans.

21/12/2017. Ana Belén Perianes. European cooperation in the field of security and defense is an unsatisfied ambition since the beginning of the European project. Spain is one of the 25 countries participating in the Permanent Structured Cooperation with the objective of moving forwards in real integration. But the EU would only be able to request the global leadership it deserves if the Member States strengthen their degree of political compromise and Brussels starts a coherent foreign policy.

Chile choses the path of change

18/12/2017. José Herrera. Sebastián Piñera has obtained an overwhelming victory. The center-right comes out very strengthened and now has the historic responsibility of carrying out a reformist agenda aimed at modernizing the economy and transforming the inefficient public system of pensions, health and education. This will deepen the breach between the two Americas; the one of development and progress opposite to the one of regression and failure

A new Corsica is added to the list of Macron’s remaining challenges

13/12/2017. Eduardo Inclán. Corsica is a new challenge for the French political system. The last elections were not normal regional elections, but a decisive foundational moment for the future of the island and its relations with the rest of the Metropolitan France. Castroism after Castroism

30/11/2017. José Herrera. The restoration of diplomatic relations with the US as well as the derogation of the Common Position of the EU has only served to consolidate the regime. The recent “elections”, without the presence of the opposition and with the mandatory and identifiable vote, are only the prelude of the celebration of the 60 years of Castroism in a Congress of the Communist Party called to reaffirm with the complacency of not much occidental leaders, the indissolubility of Cuban Communism. In this context, it need to be perceived with relief the postponement of the visit of His Majesty King Felipe VI.

Chile Presidential Elections 2017

27/11/2017. Aldo Cassinelli y Constanza Castillo.
