31/10/2016. Eduardo Inclán es Maître en Histoire por la Universidad de Toulouse II-Le Mirail. France has before itself a great challenge to decide who will be the next president of the Republic in the upcoming month of May, but few months away from the elections, everything is too open to talk about favorites. The primaries of the main party of the French right, Les Republicains (LR), is attracting great attention but not too much discussion on ideological level. For the first time in its history, the party has decided to choose its candidate in open primaries to militants and sympathizers that will be held in a single ballot on the 20th November and the two most voted candidates will compete again in the second round on the 27th November.
28/10/2016. Análisis FAES. Spain has done much –much more than what was expected by analysts and international investors five years ago– to develop its economy and successfully compete in the international economy, to have a growth pattern without any disparities and to create employment. The reforms in the work, financial and competition advocacy spheres have been ambitious and –even though they need constant review and updating–, at last, successful. But indeed all these partial hits allow displaying with contrast and sharpness the great pending task: the structural reform of public revenue and expenditure.
26/10/2016. Iñigo Sagardoy. Abogado. Profesor Titular de Derecho del Trabajo, Universidad Francisco de Vitoria. In the social issues, beyond their economical content, certain figures and numbers acquire, in a precise moment, an almost magical inordinate value, as it happened with the 35-hour work week in due course, and it’s happening now after the judgment by the Court of Justice of the European Union last 14th September with the 20-day compensation as a possible remedy for one of the major endemic problems that the Spanish labour market is going through: the rate of temporary employment.
25/10/2016. Análisis FAES. Venezuela is subjugated to a continued coup d’état by the chavist regime. Anyone who considers that said statement is excessive should propose other description for the sequence of attacks against elementary rights that the democratic opposition suffers, for the hardships that have Venezuelans struggling on a daily basis for a minimal sustenance, for the degradation that the social life experiments as a result of the violence, attributable to crime as well as the one directed by the regime.
20/10/2016. José María Aznar, presidente de la Fundación FAES. "The admirable engagement of the Fundación Gregorio Ordóñez to support and spread the reality and relevance of bearing his name goes a step further with this successful attempt to modernize the general archive of Gregorio Ordóñez." "Few biographies, like the one of Gregorio, can claim so many achievements in such briefness of the time lived. Few lives, like his, have moved feelings and established references of exemplariness. Few memories survive as imperative of commitment to freedom as the memory of the one we miss so much." *These are first words of the article that José María Aznar has written to recall the memory and the democratic example of Gregorio Ordóñez in the web page of the foundation that carries his name and preserves his civic legacy.
19/10/2016. Antonis Klapsis es profesor adjunto en Universidad Abierta de Grecia y en Neapolis University Pafos. In Greek politics, 2015 had been a triumphant year for the Coalition of the Radical Left (commonly known by its acronym SYRIZA) and its leader Alexis Tsipras, as they managed to win two elections (in January and in September) and one referendum (in July). However, only one year after their last victory, both SYRIZA and Mr. Tsipras are in a very difficult position.
12/10/2016. Juan Tovar Ruiz, profesor de relaciones internacionales de la Universidad de Burgos. The electoral debate that took place at the University of Washington in St. Louis has showed once more the strengths and weaknesses of both candidates, as well as the deep differences between themselves and their corresponding parties. The debate was, in the main, a dialectical conflagration defined by a certain tension, less than expected if we consider the scandals from last days.
