/22.10.13/.- The secretary-general of FAES Foundation, Javier Zarzalejos, has analysed the judgement of the European Court of Human Rights whih has ruled against applying the 'Parot Doctrine' and has considered that the the decision is a “civic and democratic failure the retarded effect of which is now being suffered”.
Nothing describes the current situation in Libya better than the bizarre hijacking episode of the country's Prime Minister, Ali Zeidan, carried out in theory by militias loyal to the government. After being released just a few hours later, Zeidan stated, in an understatement of events, that there was still plenty to do in Libya.
15/10/2013.- FAES Foundation launched on Tuesday 15th its new report, Propuestas para una estrategia energética nacional (Proposals for a national energy strategy), in which it proposes a new energy strategy to boost growth and competitiveness in Spain in the next decades. Additionally, it offers forty recommendations regarding market efficiency and competitiveness; legal certainty; managing efficiency; supervision excellence; independence and innovation, and energy vision. The report argues that this strategy must be underpinned by a national view of energy, with clear and stable objectives, and principles that are consistent with them.

Joseph Nye defined power in political strategy as the ability to influence the behaviour of others in order to get what you want. He distinguished between hard power and soft power, stating that the former is the threat and, where appropriate, the use of military power, while the latter has to do with the peaceful ability to attract, convince or seduce.
