On the European side, he should find the appropriate partners to strengthen an Atlantic community based on values and not just interests. In the recent history of the United States, Donald Trump has some good examples of presidents who knew how to globally leader leaning on the Atlantic connection, and he also knows the consequences of bad policies adopted by the outgoing administration regarding very different countries such as Syria, Iran, Cuba, Libya and Venezuela. Trump himself, the American people and the rest of the world have more at stake. We hope he guesses the right way".
France has before itself a great challenge to decide who will be the next president of the Republic in the upcoming month of May, but few months away from the elections, everything is too open to talk about favorites. The primaries of the main party of the French right, Les Republicains (LR), is attracting great attention but not too much discussion on ideological level. For the first time in its history, the party has decided to choose its candidate in open primaries to militants and sympathizers that will be held in a single ballot on the 20th November and the two most voted candidates will compete again in the second round on the 27th November.
Spain has done much –much more than what was expected by analysts and international investors five years ago– to develop its economy and successfully compete in the international economy, to have a growth pattern without any disparities and to create employment. The reforms in the work, financial and competition advocacy spheres have been ambitious and –even though they need constant review and updating–, at last, successful. But indeed all these partial hits allow displaying with contrast and sharpness the great pending task: the structural reform of public revenue and expenditure.
In the social issues, beyond their economical content, certain figures and numbers acquire, in a precise moment, an almost magical inordinate value, as it happened with the 35-hour work week in due course, and it’s happening now after the judgment by the Court of Justice of the European Union last 14th September with the 20-day compensation as a possible remedy for one of the major endemic problems that the Spanish labour market is going through: the rate of temporary employment.
