/20.10.15/.- La Fundación FAES ha acogido esta tarde la celebración de la asamblea general del Wilfried Martens Centre for European Studies, WMCEE, el think tank del Partido Popular Europeo, que agrupa a las 30 principales fundaciones vinculadas a los 74 partidos miembros y asociados del PPE. Se trata de la primera vez que esta reunión de carácter anual se celebra fuera de Bruselas. Han dirigido la asamblea el presidente del PPE, Joseph Daul; el presidente del WMCEE, Mikúlas Dzurinda, y el secretario general de FAES, Javier Zarzalejos.
/20.10.15/.- Tras el anuncio de la "significativa extensión" de la presencia militar estadounidense en Afganistán que el presidente Barak Obama hizo la pasada semana, el director de Política Internacional de FAES, Rafael L. Bardají, repasa las controvertidas rectificaciones que el mandatario ha hecho al respecto del despligue de tropas en aquel país, así como anteriormente en Irak.
In October 2011, the US president, who had always considered the intervention in Iraq as a ‘bad war’ solemnly announced that ‘After nearly nine years, America’s war in Iraq will be over. The tide of war is receding.’ Soon after, in December, he said, ‘All the fighting, all the dying, the bleeding, and the building, and the training and the partnering, all of it has led to this moment of success. (...) We leave behind a sovereign, a stable, a self-reliant Iraq.’ And so he got ready to pull out all the troops from Iraq and declare the end of the war.
/19.10.15/.- The journal Cuadernos de pensamiento Político (Spanish for ‘Journals of Political Thought’), edited by FAES Foundation and directed by its Secretary-General, Javier Zarzalejos, has released its 48th edition. Its editorial note states that ‘it is necessary to conduct an in depth analysis of the reasons and intentions of a project that earned us a vast majority four years ago.’ Read here
