Duque, que se ha reunido con José María Aznar y Javier Zarzalejos, ha reafirmado ante ambos su compromiso con la legalidad, el emprendimiento y la equidad como bases para el futuro y la prosperidad de Colombia.
FAES Foundation Board of Trustees, after the request of its President, José María Aznar, have decided by unanimity to award Luis Almagro, Secretary General of the Organization of American States, OAS, with the FAES Freedom Award. FAES recognizes his firmly defense of democratic values in Latin America and his support to the democratic political forces in Venezuela in order to reestablish the rule of law, public liberties and representative institutions.
Democratic systems suffer a legitimacy crisis, which added to the advance of populism, provokes that liberal democracy run the risk of disappearing and turning into another thing. In order to correct this situation, it seems necessary to return to its essence: protect the compromise with the defense of the structure of rights and individual liberties and the classic liberal values.

Cada año que pasa el legado de Gregorio significa más compromiso en las ideas por las que vivió y luchó”, ha afirmado Aznar. FAES cumple así su compromiso de salvaguardar la memoria de Ordóñez.
