30/04/2013

_ He warns of “the drift that threatens to rend sterile the best efforts that have been carried out and are still being carried out by the Spanish citizens”

_ “With loyalty to the legitimate electoral mandate received, it’s necessary to strengthen projects, restore affections and trust and count with everybody from a perspective of generosity”

_ He asks for “commitment regarding the future of Spain, which is at stake today in both the economic and the institutional sphere, as well as in those of social cohesion and national unity”

_ “Spain, freedom, responsibility, generosity and integrity. That must be our guiding light, with total clarity and the greatest determination”.

_ “It is precisely when politics seems to be greatly discredited and considered dispensable, that it is actually more necessary than ever before”

_ “Precisamente cuando la política parece sufrir un grave descrédito y se considera prescindible resulta que es más necesaria que nunca”

_ “Gregorio embodies the values that made the PP the first Spanish political force: integrity, the courage to lead from very strong convictions, and generosity”

_ “Belittling the Transition, the constitutional agreement and the consensus as pillars of the democratic institutions and its legitimacy has come at cost”

_ “In order to defeat terrorism, one must first defeat its lies. The current ones and the ones that came before, and there is no greatest lie than the one that matches victims with executioners"

_ “We shall never accept that the sacrifice of the victims should vanish in an amalgam of false accounts and fabricated alibis for impunity and obscurity"

José María Aznar, former Prime Minister of Spain and president of FAES Foundation, participated on Monday, February 4, in the presentation of the documentary archive on Gregorio Ordoñez in Madrid, murdered 18 years ago by the terrorist group ETA. This archive gathers and asserts the legacy of the fight for freedom and against terrorism initiated by the man that used to be councillor of the PP in San Sebastián and MP representing Guipúzcoa in the Basque Parliament. Organized by FAES and the Gregorio Ordoñez Foundation, the event also hosted as speakers the former mayor of Lizarza Regina Otaola, and Ana Iribar, the widow of the former popular leader, who is also the president of the Ordoñez Foundation.
