"Clear policies are strengthening the Nation, making economic and social reforms, international recovery and the recovery of values" "I am convinced that now"s the political time of the Partido Popular" "The Government is, plainly and simply, a disaster, in the full meaning of the word" "We delivered the most prosperous country in the history of Spain and they have squandered it" "It is not enough to apply measures of discipline and austerity which are in some cases imposed and in other insufficient" Aznar was named Honorary Brother of the Brotherhood Virgen de las Huertas de Lorca /05.06.10/ Jos? Mar?a Aznar, president of the Foundation for Social Studies and Analysis (FAES), has participated today, Saturday June 5, at the closing session of the 30th anniversary of the young generations (NN.GG.) of the Partido Popular of Murcia, at Lorca (Murcia). There he made a claim for self-confidence in order to recover that of others, credibility, "finishing homework and respecting commitments", for the capability to "overcome a Government that has fallen into irrelevance, inconsistence and insolvency" and the courage to "explain things and call them by their name". Aznar was also named Honorary Brother of the Brotherhood of Santa Mar?a la Real de las Huertas, a distinction only received by King Alfonso XIII before. Also at the celebration were the president of the Partido Popular for the region of Murcia, Ram?n Luis Valc?rcel; the president of the PP of Lorca, Francisco J?dar; and the regional president of NN.GG., V?ctor Manuel Mart?nez. Aznar made an analysis of the "difficult times" Spain is going through. "The Government is, plainly and simply, a disaster, in the full meaning of the word. It is the expression of total failure, without any reserves", he stated. "We cannot continue being in the hands of irrelevance, incompetence and insolvency which right now join together in an outrageous way in the Spanish Government and at the table of the Council of Ministers". In his analysis of the Spanish situation, the president of FAES has made a particular reference to the economic crisis, and has denounced, in this sense, that "it is not enough to apply measures of discipline and austerity" which, moreover are "in some cases imposed and in other insufficient", but that the Government should design "a Welfare State that is possible by creating employment and not unemployed.". "The future of our country is worth writing. We delivered the most prosperous country in the history of Spain and they have squandered it. Socialists, when given the opportunity, fill the country with debris", he lamented. CLEAR POLICIES Aznar has stressed, on the other hand, Spain"s capability to overcome problems. In order to do this, "clear policies are needed as soon as possible", he said, policies based on "self-confidence in order to recover that of others", on credibility, a chapter where he mentioned the need of "finishing homework and respecting commitments", on capability to "overcome a Government that has fallen into irrelevance, inconsistence and insolvency", on making a team with "the best", and last but not least, on courage to "explain things, call them by their name, make decisions, and make a claim for the majority of the country". "When you"re in office, the important thing are facts and not dreams, and when dreams become nightmares, you should wake up as soon as possible", he added. When mentioning homework to get out of the crisis, Aznar also pointed out the importance of "recovering the State and strengthening Spain as a nation" and not "wasting the country"s time". "The current State is not politically feasible or financially sustainable. We have to move from a residual State to one that is capable and effective", he declared. In this sense, Aznar stressed that this "foolishness is also affecting institutions", and asked himself whether "some institutions, like the Constitutional Court, fulfil their obligations". "I would like to know if Spain is one, five or 17", he stated. Aznar also made a claim for economic and social reforms addressed to recovering market unity, establishing budget stability, reforming taxes and the labour market, privatizing the public sector, reforming energy, reforming pensions, reforming education and recovering the National Water Plan. International recovery, for which he supported going back to "a well-founded position with well-defined national interests", and recovering our values, amongst which he mentioned hard work, unity before division, and responsibility and respect when addressing citizens, are some of the "clear policies" Aznar made reference to. Aznar, who has qualified the Spanish presidency of the EU as "insignificant", has stated that "this Government"s term has come to an end". "I am convinced that now"s the political time of the Partido Popular and of the current PP leader, and now we have all to stand together at the most critical time of Spain in decades of history, and it is worth that responsibility going over together each and every one of Spain"s issues to get our country off the ground. It is worthwhile indeed", he remarked. Before finishing, Aznar addressed the youths, encouraging them to rise to the occasion, and inviting them to covet "the highest ambitions", to never collapse "as terrible as pressure may come to be", and to be aware that "constant hard work has no substitute", and not to "waste one minute over small matters". HONORARY BROTHER Before the closing session of the anniversary of NN.GG. of Murcia region, Aznar was named Honorary Brother of the Brotherhood Santa Mar?a la Real de las Huertas, the Saint of the city of Lorca, a distinction only received by King Alfonso XIII before. This honour, unanimously decided by all members of the brotherhood, was bestowed upon Aznar for his "devotion on the defence of water, like our Saint did and does for the thriving of the city of Lorca".
