As the coordinator of technical teams preparing the campaign programme for the PRO (Propuesta Republicana) - the party led by the current Mayor of Buenos Aires, Mauricio Macri - Cabrera defended Macri running for president of Argentina in 2011: "Macri is the best presidential candidate in Argentina because his project has policies to achieve the true future progress of Argentina". The Government programme of the political project embodied by Mauricio Macri is being designed by Pensar Foundation, which has active bonds with FAES. The over fifty people present at the meeting analysed the role of think tanks as idea generators, also for Latin American politics, and the necessity of having foreseeable Government programmes designed by the best teams in each field. In this sense, Guillermo Hirschfeld, in charge of FAES" Programmes for Latin America, declared that "a true political speech is unavoidably written by investing effort in the sphere of ideas". The next challenges for the region posed by the elections were analysed by the members of the meeting, who focused also on the second round of Colombia"s presidential elections which will be held next Sunday. Coordinated by Guillermo Hirschfeld and incorporated last February as an observatory for the political, economic and social analysis of Latin America, the FAES Centre for Latin American Studies has over 50 experts amongst who are professors, writers, entrepreneurs, analysts and young leaders from over ten countries. At their regular meetings in Madrid they seek to generate ideas to improve the situation of Latin America and tighten the bonds with universities, think tanks and parties from both sides of the Atlantic.
