Aznar launches the Johns Hopkins Atlantic Initiative

Mar?a Aznar president of FAES Foundation and former Prime Minister of Spain, is in Sao Paulo this week, where he has celebrated the first high-level meeting of the Atlantic Initiative of The Center for Transatlantic Relations of American university Johns Hopkins Led by Aznar, the purpose of the Atlantic Initiative is to study all political, economic, social, cultural and technologic interaction instruments among the countries of the Atlantic basin along its four pillars: North and South America, Europe and Africa. The founding meeting took place in Sao Paulo on April 19 and 20 and was attended by representatives from the United States, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, Peru, El Salvador, Dominican Republic, Spain, Germany, Portugal, South Africa, Nigeria and Ghana, as well as members of the CAF, the Latin American development bank. This first meeting of the Atlantic Initiative, which will continue adding countries, was celebrated at Bandeirantes Palace, the seat of the government of Sao Paulo. Next meeting will be held in South Africa. During his stay in Sao Paulo, Aznar also signed a collaboration agreement between FAES and Espacio Democr?tico the think tank for political training and studies of the PSD, Brazil's Social Democratic Party. This agreement between both institutions will help produce joint activities and studies, as well as disseminating proposals to defend freedom and equal opportunities. Furthermore, Aznar took this opportunity to pay a visit in hospital to former president of Brazil, Luiz In?cio Lula Da Silva.
