The work points out the economic and geostrategic difficulties, as well as those relating to civil society and values, which have gathered and grown in recent years to such a point that they risk Europe's prestige, existence and cultural and political identity. Rivero denounces how nationalism has made societies that endure it renounce the value of these concepts until they have become unrecognizable. In her book, Uriarte warns as well that the most moderate wing of progressive thinking has been wolfed down by the radical wing so the caves are going to become even deeper.
