The Spanish People's Party has good relations with brother parties in Latin America, in the North, Central and South of America and in Portugal, but not a large organisation with the strength of the EPP. The Spanish People's Party has pending, in her view, the creation of a Latin American and American People's Party enabling us to have a global centre-right political organisation on both sides of the Atlantic. During a conference on foreign policy to the members of the FAES-CES Programme of Latin American Visitors, the party's secretary general has insisted that this organisation would serve to convey the values of the centre-right and face the growing populism and anti-political attitude. It would also solve the fragmentation problem of the centre-right parties in Latin America which gives them a hard time becoming a real power alternative in the eyes of their citizens. It is the responsibility of the Latin American political centre-right, as we also did in Spain, to put aside differences in order to build great alternatives she assured. CITIZENS, THE MAIN FIGURES OF POLITICAL ACTION Cospedal also explained that from Spain they have tried to promote a strong European People's Party and work to address the economic, social and values crisis we are facing as well as responding to the challenges of globalisation. In this sense, the secretary general of the Spanish People's Party remarked that the PP is the most important party of the EU in number of memberships, it is governing Spain, and in a significant number of regions and municipalities. In addition to this, it also plays a major role in the EPP, as was demonstrated at the recent summit in Bucharest, where it had a very active role. Cospedal also stressed the bilateral relations with other parties like the German CDU, the Italian Christian Democrat and centre-right parties, the Swedish Social Democratic parties, the French UMP, or the Conservatives in the UK. Outside Europe she stressed the relations with Moroccan and Algerian parties, as well as with the parties and foundations of the Republicans and Democrats of the United States.
