_ "The role of public authorities is to implement reforms which make productive sectors more flexible, instead of being a burden”
_ “My Government is concerned with making the lives of those citizens who want to work and undertake new projects easier”
Luisa Fernanda Rudi, President of the PP of Aragón, closed the fifth edition of the FAES Foundation and PP of Aragón Summer School, which was held on September 6 and 7 in Tarazona. In her closing address, Rudi insisted on the idea of stability and emphasised that legal certainty is essential when it comes to building trust. According to Rudi, “legal certainty and confidence build trust”, and recalled that it had been the leitmotiv of her Government’s activity, which is concerned about “making the lives of those citizens who want to work and undertake new projects easier.”
Rudi highlighted the importance of keeping public finances sound and healthy and meeting the deficit target so that lack of competition resulting from public authorities which are not building trust and certainty does not constitute an impediment to citizens. “The role of public authorities is not to replace companies, but to implement reforms that make productive sectors more flexible, instead of being a burden for productive sectors, like what happened here.”
The launch of the “Plan Impulso” was possible thanks to the meeting of the deficit objective and the aim of being a facilitating authority, instead of replacing private initiative. Rudi recalled that the Government was very clear about where to allocate the “increase of resources” resulting from the meeting of the deficit objective: injecting it directly in the economy and creating jobs, paying special attention to funding, “for those profitable activities, but without ever thinking that we can replace companies.”
The President of the regional Government of Aragón also referred to social services, which received special attention during the Summer School. “When it comes to public health, we are accused of everything”, she said. However, she highlighted the results of the CIS survey, according to which “Aragonese citizens are the most satisfied with their healthcare. This does not mean that making healthcare costs rational is being easy, but it is true that our healthcare system is good because we have implemented some measures that nevertheless still need to be implemented.”
Luisa Fernanda Rudi also referred to some of the news which which had been recently published about certain legal operations that are currently open in Aragón. In this respect, the regional President of Aragón guaranteed that she is not going to “start a political battle because of events taking place over the past years in Aragón, and which are currently being handled by the public prosecutor’s office for corruption.” However, she warned that she would fight “until the end to recover every single euro that has been taken away from the Aragonese, whoever has taken it, provided that it is proven by the courts.”
To conclude, Rudi asked the assistants to remain close to the citizens, like the PP of Aragón has done, “because it is the best way to convey to our citizens that we care about their problems.”
