José María Aznar, former Prime Minister of Spain and President of FAES Foundation, sent on Tuesday, 12 November a letter to Benigno Aquino III, President of the Republic of the Philippines, to convey his “deepest condolences and solidarity for the tragic consequences of Typhoon Haiyan” in the country. He also expressed his “sorrow for the families of the victims and the Philippine nation.”
In the letter, Aznar shows a “deep concern for the loss of human lives and the material damages caused by this natural disaster.” “I feel a great affection for the Philippine nation, and I feel deeply moved by the calamity they are suffering due to the devastating typhoon”, he stated in the text which he also sent to the Spanish Ambassador in the Philippines, Carlos Salinas.
