FAES Foundation and ESADE Law School will celebrate, in Barcelona, from Thursday April 9th to Tuesday 21 the 21st edition of the Permanent Seminar on Human Rights Antonio Marzal, which this year takes place under the title 'Information and Power: Copyright Information and the Exercise of Power '.The conference will review issues such as transparency and public information; the challenges and opportunities of information and communication technology, and lobbying activity to ensure good governance.
The ESADE Law School and FAES Seminar, organized by Enric R. Bartlett, director of the conferences, and Ignacio Astarloa, director of Constitution and Institutions of the Foundation, will be held at the ESADE Forum (Building I, Av. Pedralbes 60-62 , Barcelona). The sessions will have as speakers, among others, the deputy spokesman of the Popular Parliamentary group, José Antonio Bermúdez de Castro; the director of the Jean Monnet Chair of ESADE Law School, José María de Areilza, and the founding partner of Vinces, David Córdova.
FOUR SESSIONS
The president of Onda Cero, Javier González Ferrari, will be in charge of delivering the opening lecture of the Seminar, 'Freedom of Information and Power', on Thursday 9 April at 19:00 hours. He will analyse the secrets of States and companies and what to do when you want to extend the exclusive circle of information or condition the content of that which is transmitted.
The program will continue on Tuesday 14 April with the session 'Transparency in Public Powers. Legal Mandates', which will give the floor to Professor of Constitutional Law, Josep Maria Castellá, and the Professor of the same subject at the Faculty of Law of ICADE, Maria Isabel Álvarez. Both will explain the Law of transparency, access to public information and good governance (Law 19/2013, of December 9) and address the keys of the subjective sphere, active advertising, the right to access to public information and compliance control.
On Thursday 16, Jose Antonio Bermúdez de Castro and the director of organization and systems of SAGESSA group, Eduard Gil Carbó, will participate in the session entitled 'Improving Democracy Through Transparency and Access to Public Information '.This session will analyse the measures put in place to improve democratic quality and reflect on the possibilities offered by the current technology to provide access to information of public interest.
Finally, Professor of European Law and Director of the Jean Monnet Chair of ESADE Law School, José María de Areilza, and the founding partner of Vinces, David Córdova, will address the subject 'Lobby. Between legitimate influence and unacceptable pressure' on Tuesday 21 April. They will seek to explain the role of lobby as a contribution to governance in companies with multiple interests. They will also sddress the need for regulation and discuss the register of interests and transparency of contacts.
