02.07.14/.- Juan José Solozábal, Profesor of Constitucional Law at the Autónoma University of Madrid delivered an address on the federal alternative to the current territorial model, chaired by Juan Ignacio Echáinz, Minister for Health and Social Affairs of the Castille-La Manga Community.
/02.07.14/.- Wednesday's session finished with the 'Lessons from the Scottish and Quebecker cases' roundtable, chaired by Íñigo Méndez de Vigo, Secretary of State for the European Union. Alberto Dorrego and Alfonso Cuenca, Legal Advisors to the Spanish Parliament took part in it.
The spokesperson for the Constitutional Commission of the Spanish Congress of Deputies, Pedro Gómez de la Serna, stated that “there is not the slightest possibility of reaching or negotiating an agreement with the Catalan nationalism, and we have to accept it and manage this issue politically”, at the FAES Campus. According to him, a secessionist process that is “perfectly structured and irreversible” as the Catalan one “can only be balanced out by other parallel process that leads it to a dead end”.
The President of the Xunta de Galicia, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, took part in the first session of the 2014 Campus FAES ‘The Territorial Constitution and the Secessionist Challenge’ course, where he delivered an address on ‘The Strengthening of the State of Autonomies’. José María Aznar, President of FAES Foundation, Javier Zarzalejos, Director of FAES Campus, and Ignacio Astarloa, Director of FAES Foundation Constitution and Institutions Department, also participated in the conference.
