The FAES foundation has presented its report ‘The Atlantic Alliance 70 Years Later: Frim Reform to Rebuilding’ in which it proposes a radical transformation of NATO. At the presentation ceremony, the former President of the Government and president of FAES, José María Aznar stated that “the combination of Atlanticism, Europeanism and liberal order is the most desirable and profitable way to face the complicated future that lies ahead”.
Seventy years later, the Alliance is weaker, at a time in which the Organization has, after undergoing a process of increased bureaucratization, stressed its vocation as a security-based one. Can we accept this NATO as the new normal? Is it an acceptable result of its adaptation within a new period? Should we not aspire to a better Alliance? Furthermore, does it even make sense that NATO exists in the year 2019?

The violence has led Chile to a climate of ungovernability under which lies the intention to undermine the foundations of the Republic by demanding a Constituent Assembly. La undécima edición del Observatorio Económico FAES se celebró en el Colegio Mayor San Pablo CEU, de Madrid, el pasado 7 de noviembre de 2007. Juan Velarde, premio Príncipe de Asturias y presidente del Observatorio, efectuó un balance de la actividad de análisis de la economía española realizada por el Observatorio en sus treinta meses de vida. Luis de Guindos, presidente de Lehman Brothers para España y Portugal, habló sobre las perspectivas económicas mundiales. Fernando Fernández, Rector de la Universidad Antonio de Nebrija, analizó la economía española y sus perspectivas para 2008, año en el que pronosticó un crecimiento económico no superior al 2,7%. Joaquín Trigo, Director Ejecutivo de Fomento del Trabajo Nacional, explicó la situación y perspectivas de empresas y familias. Al inicio de la sesión, Jaime García-Legaz, Secretario General de FAES, cedió el testigo como secretario del Observatorio a Fernando Navarrete, nuevo Director de Economía y Políticas Públicas de la Fundación.
