Prensa Adolfo Suárez, a Providential Politician

When on July 3, 1976, King Juan Carlos I chose Adolfo Suárez as Prime Minister of Spain amongst the three candidates submitted by the Privy Council, few people knew his name.

Prensa Suárez and our Freedom

“The path to provide this country with a Constitution which, like His Majesty the King stated in these same Cortes, will offer a place for each Spaniard, will enshrine the rights and freedoms of citizens and will offer legal protection to all cases which might occur in a plural society, is open. While we await the Constitution, it seems clear that the democratic process is now irreversible. The spirit of the Crown, our people’s maturity and the responsibility and realism of political parties have made it irreversible.”

Prensa On the tax reform

The report of the Committee of Experts designated by the Government to lay the foundations of a much needed tax reform in our country marks a significant milestone in the process that began in July 2013. Any economic reform in a country that, like Spain, aspires to hobnob with major world economies needs to be preceded by a process of calm reflection as well as civil society involvement in order to maximise the credibility and durability of the implemented measures.

Prensa Lega Nord and the Independence Consultation in the Veneto Region

'Do you want the Veneto to become an independent and sovereign federal republic?' This is the question that the people of the Veneto region can answer since last Monday, March 16, through to Friday, 21 on the web page www.plebiscito.eu. The secessionist consultation has been launched by the Indipendenza Veneta movement, which follows the plebiscitary model designed by Artur Mas for Catalonia both in its objectives and in the rhetoric used. However, the political relevance of the query is given by the strong support it has found in the president of the Veneto region, Luca Zaia, from the Lega Nord, who hopes to capitalise a favourable outcome of the Palazzo Balbi's independence thesis.
