/04.02.13/.- José María Aznar participated on Monday, February 4, in the presentation of the documentary archive on Gregorio Ordoñez in Madrid, murdered 18 years ago by the terrorist group ETA. This archive gathers and asserts the legacy of the fight for freedom and against terrorism initiated by the man that used to be councillor of the PP in San Sebastián and MP representing Guipúzcoa in the Basque Parliament. Organized by FAES and the Gregorio Ordoñez Foundation, the event also hosted as speakers the former mayor of Lizarza Regina Otaola, and Ana Iribar, the widow of the former popular leader, who is also the president of the Ordoñez Foundation. /10.01.13/.- José María Aznar has met with the President of Chile, Sebastián Piñera, on Thursday 10 at La Moneda presidential Palace. Furthermore, this afternoon and tomorrow Friday Aznar will participate in the first edition of the FAES Campus Chile: ‘A strong democracy for lasting prosperity’, organised jointly by FAES and the Union of Latin American Parties, UPLA, an association of the region’s centre-right parties and political movements.
Desde su inicio, la Unión Europea ha adoptado sus decisiones por consenso y respetando el equilibrio de los intereses de todos. Este afán se plasma en un sistema político-institucional sui generis en el que los Tratados atribuyen el poder legislativo, judicial y ejecutivo entre las diversas instituciones comunitarias. Dentro del entramado institucional comunitario, el Consejo desempeña un papel fundamental, puesto que es co-legislador y autoridad presupuestaria junto con el Parlamento Europeo. Además, el Consejo está llamado a ejercer un papel cada vez mayor en la definición de la política exterior de la Unión Europea y realiza una labor fundamental en la preparación de las reuniones del Consejo Europeo, verdadero vértice político de la Unión Europea. La forma en que el Consejo adopta sus decisiones está también diseñada para conseguir el consenso y mantener el equilibrio de poderes. Hasta ahora, el Consejo ha adoptado sus decisiones mediante el denominado sistema de voto ponderado.
