As already mentioned, the external sector of the Spanish economy has recovered during the crisis, but unlike what happened in previous crises, in this case it has not been the result of competitive devaluations undertaken by the Government. The competitiveness gains observed are due other factors, including the positive behaviour of labour productivity.
The good news is that the publication of the comprehensive assessment results conducted by the European Central Bank and the European Banking Authority over the last year certifies the successful completion of the restructuring process of the Spanish banking system. An ambitious and complex exercise that has lasted for a year involving more than 6,000 professionals to audit the value of assets (Asset Quality Review, AQR) and measure the resilience of balances (stress tests) of 130 European entities before hypothetical adverse scenarios up to 2016.

Six of the twenty-nine parties that have run for the early parliamentary elections in Ukraine have won more than 5% of the vote and have thus ensured their presence in Parliament, the Supreme Rada. The victory of the pro-European parties – Poroshenko Block (of the President Petro Poroshenko), National Front (of the current Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk) and the Self-Help Association (founded by the mayor of Lviv, Andri Sadovi) – ensures the creation of a coalition government of European vocation. The new government will have to address four old outstanding tasks: rebuilding the State, consolidating the fragile peace agreement in Donbas, fighting corruption and adopting unpopular measures necessary to make structural reforms in the economy.
The dissolution of the Euro-sceptic group in the European Parliament EFDD (Europe of Freedom and Direct Democracy), the spokesman of which is Nigel Farage, leader of Britain's UKIP (UK Independence Party) was communicated on Wednesday October 15th. The cause was Latvian MEP Iveta Grigule's exit from the group to join the ECR group (European Conservatives and Reformists). This excluded the EFDD of the benefits of being a distinct political group in Parliament by not complying with the requirement of national diversity, needing representatives of at least seven different countries.
