Prensa Aznar: “The EU-USA free trade agreement is extremely important from a strategic and political point of view”

04.07.14.-José María Aznar, former Prime Minister of Spain and President of the FAES Foundation, launched today at the 2014 FAES Campus the A New Atlantic Community: Generating Growth, Human Development and Security in the Atlantic Hemisphere white paper, set in motion by the Atlantic Basin Initiative, chaired and launched by Aznar at the Centre for Transatlantic Relations of the Johns Hopkins University, of which he is a distinguished fellow. The paper calls for the redefinition of a new Atlantic community that includes South America, Central America and the Atlantic countries in Africa, based on the common values of democracy and freedom and that is well-positioned in the world.

Oleg Rybachuk, former Ukranian Deputy Prime Minister, Josep Piqué, former Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg, former German Ministry of Defence, took part in it.

Prensa Roundtable: 'Again, the Atlantic'

This morning, the 2014 FAES Campus ‘The Atlantic basin: Challenges and Opportunities’ course, directed by Cayetana Álvarez de Toledo, started with a roundtable in which Mikuláš Dzurinda, former Prime Minister and President of Slovakia, and Simon Serfaty, Senior Professor of Zbigniew Brzezinski Chair in Global Security and Geostrategy at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, took part. They were introduced by Charles Powell, Elcano Royal Institute Director, and they addressed the situation of the Transatlantic relations and the future of the Atlantic community.
