The German deputy minister for Finance, Steffen Kampeter, has been one of the speakers of the 2012 FAES Campus, with a conference on the ‘Approaches to solve the Eurozone Crisis’. Introducing him were the director for Spain and Portugal of Konrad Adenauer Stiftung, Thomas Stehling; and MP for Cuenca and spokesman for Foreign Affairs of the Popular Parliamentary Group in Congress, José María Beneyto.
The International Course of the 2012 FAES Campus has ended with the dialogue ‘A New Narrative for Europe’. The speakers have been the director of the Jean Monnet Center for International and Regional Economic Law and Justice of New York University, Joseph Weiler, and the president of Analistas Socio-Políticos, Víctor Pérez-Díaz. Charing the dialogue was the former minister of Foreign Affairs and member of the Spanish Council of State, Ana Palacio.
The second day of the International Affairs Course of the 2012 FAES Campus is called ‘Recovering Spain’s Position and Influence in the World’. The first session has been a round table on ’Spain’s country brand’, and the speaker invited to depart on this have been the former minister for Foreign Affairs, Josep Piqué; Ambassador Javier Rupérez; and the Chairman of Elcano Royal Institute, Emilio Lamo de Espinosa. Chairing the table was secretary for International Relations of the Partido Popular, José Ramón García.
The chairman of Baker & McKenzie España and permanent member of the Real Academia de Jurisprudencia y Legislación, Manuel Pizarro, has participated in the 2012 FAES Campus, where he said that “we must save banks to avoid a complete contraction of economy and a total volatilization of a country’s savings, but we must also look at the black box to see what’s happened so that it doesn’t happen again. And that hasn’t been done”. He was introduced by former Prime Minister and president of FAES, José María Aznar.
