Aznar has described Sarkozy as a ‘personal friend and a friend of Spain’ and stressed that ‘he is a political leader who serves as such.’ He has also reviewed the latest situation in Greece, warning against ‘domestic options incompatible with Europe’ and stating that ‘If the European Union accepts the breaking of rules, its future will be seriously compromised.’
