Prensa OPENING OF CONSTITUTIONAL COURSE Pizarro: ‘Institutions are the backbone of organized societies’

/01.07.15/.- Manuel Pizarro took part today in the opening session of the Constitutional course of the 2015 FAES Campus. In his address he said that ‘the Constitution is in the frontispiece of the Rule of Law, it is the sheltering sky of coexistence’. ‘You cannot make a clean sweep of a Constitution that was so very hard to make’, he said.

/01.07.15/.- José María Aznar has held a meeting this morning with Lilian Tintori, the wife of the Venezuelan opposition leader Leopoldo López, imprisoned by the regime of Nicolás Maduro. In the meeting, both agreed that political prisoners had to be released to ensure the legitimacy of parliamentary elections next December 6, and also that the EU has to get involved on the ground in the observation of Venezuela's democratic electoral process.

Los diez años de Gobierno de Hugo Chávez han significado un grave retroceso en la vida social de los venezolanos. Venezuela se ha convertido en uno de los países con mayor índice de criminalidad del mundo. El poder judicial ha resultado seriamente contaminado por el poder ejecutivo. La economía ha sido intervenida y dañada a pesar de la riqueza en petróleo del país. Las libertades ciudadanas y democráticas han resultado alteradas y recortadas en beneficio del poder omnímodo de Chávez y de su movimiento bolivariano. Los grupos de oposición han sido amenazados, boicoteados o expulsados de la escena pública y política. Lo mismo ha ocurrido con los medios de comunicación disidentes. Venezuela cuenta hoy con un régimen arbitrario que debe ser vencido democráticamente.
